Lawsuit filed against American Auto Shield for wrongfully denying coverage

Lawsuit filed against American Auto Shield. The complaint in this case alleges that American Auto Shield refused to honor its contract to repair the plaintiff's car after the vehicle suffered a major breakdown. The car had 215,000 miles on it when the engine seized do to the apparent failure of bearings on the crankshaft. The owner's mechanic said the engine wore out from high mileage, but American Auto Shield sent an inspector to look at the vehicle who blamed the breakdown on the owner, saying the owner continued to drive the vehicle after it overheated. The owner flatly denies the vehicle overheated, and, of course, the inspector was not in the car with her.

Attorney Robert F. Salvin investigated and discovered that the inspector was from Southwest Inspection Services, a company that only performs inspections for auto warranty companies. Attorney Salvin decided to take the case because it appears that American Auto Shield used a biased inspector.

Lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania against Titlemax for usury

This TitleMax loan is one of the most predatory attorney Robert Salvin has seen. The loan is for $10,081 at 130.13% A.P.R. payable in 48 months. The finance charge works out to $44,297.50, for a total payment of principal and interest of $54,378.50, on a $10,000 loan.

On June 2, 2021, attorney Salvin filed a class action complaint against TitleMax for a related loan in the amount of $7,751.39 at 132.01% A.P.R. for a Pennsylvania borrower. The borrower was able to opt out of the arbitration clause after taking out the loan. The complaint seeks to certify a class of future Pennsylvania borrowers and have the court declare that their loans are governed by Pennsylvania law, which limits the interest TitleMax can charge to just 6% in the absence of a license from the state.
